RWG's Lockdown Build.

Recommended Posts

That's just about bang on for the darker green on my monitor. I think you need the lighter; it's almost a grassy green

I was using 'Precision Paints' for the dark green.

I'll have a look at what else is in the paint store.

Will report back later provided I have the willpower to resist that Hunter two seater that keeps staring at me. 😊

I picked this up earlier and added it to the collection which is about to go into a bin bag with Mr Muscle.

I'm not happy with the paintwork so will start again.

Paint stripped and some remedial filler work drying.

In a box of models I had set aside to sell I came across a Revell F-4F complete with slatted wing.

The mad idea to convert this Fujimi effort into a 'D' and build the Revell kit as the 57th FIS one is festering away.

Nose job is easy but I think there is something do be done with the inner wings.

Watch this space 😄

Working on the BSA M20 which will be fillerless got me thinking about this fellow

Probably about 70 / 30 plastic to filler ratio.

I think it's now ready to re-commence construction.

Actually not too difficult.

I have the non slotted tailplanes from the Revell F-4F so a straight swap.

The nose isn't so easy! 😁

You went to the Kelvingrove Museum and THAT is all you could find to photograph?

We went to the Kelvingrove Museum - no Spitfires of any stripe in view. Did see the mini-Charles Rennie Mackintosh/Arts and Crafts Movement exhibit, though (which is why we went ;). On the way there we walked past the (unburnt at that point) Glasgow School of Art :crybaby:...

Note. I wonder if anybody on the wrong side of the wall bothers to translate?

My wife (technically we are indeed south o’ the Wall) is currently learning Scots Gaelic (via a computer app*). I’ll ask her.

* And are all without exception useless for using to learn any language in. Gimme a pen or pencil any day 🙄😬🤬

AZ in their wisdom supply the tailplanes in resin. Another medium to add to plastic and filler I suppose.

Resin to plastic butt joint ?  Don't think so.

The copper wire is strong enough to hold the til and flexible enough for any fine adjustments.

Now drying and will be cleaned up later.

From tails to noses.

Around 1970, Airfix re-issued their F-4B Phantom kit to include parts to make an F-4E.

I always knew the nose I didn't use would come in handy. (It was going to be used to convert a Hasegawa RF-101C into an F-101C before the days of Valom)

I'm off now for a cup of tea and on my return I will dig into the spares box marked 'pods' to see if I kept the under nose sensor.

Ah,I was going to ask if you needed a nose for it.

And I see you've sorted out the 21's tailplanes,I know a man who could've furnished you with a spare set........I think.

Ha,I wondered when someone would spot it was a 190's rudder, never mind clocking whose 190 rudder it is.

I knew it was Anton Hackl's,Doc Loopy spied it too,he said the Knight's Cross and Oak Leaves made it look a bit suss.
