It is with a heavy heart at the moment that BXM probably wont be attending model shows until a definite upturn in the Covid 19 situation improves. I am in general good health but my wife is immuno suppressed due to arthritis medication and she also has chronic asthma. With that in mind i really cannot risk passing any problems onto her. This is pre empting government action which is probably going to ban large gatherings any way. We both enjoy attending shows and look forward to coming back but for the meantime I'm not prepared to put my wife's health at risk.

Sounds sensible to me. I'm all for 'keep calm and carry on'….. in theory, but there's no point doing anything that isn't essential, if it will put you or your wife at risk.

A sensible decision. Stay at home and buy online instead  :)

I am currently considering whether to attend Shows while the infection rate is on the rise. Handling cash and stock being handled by the public sounds like a guarantee to coming down with it (and then being wiped out for weeks).

To be honest I expect all the early shows (April/May) to be cancelled in due course anyway.

My wife has just noticed that various Craft Shows are being cancelled or postponed now too which hints at the direction things are taking. Notably the Creative Craft show in London and the show at the NECC has been postponed.

Same here, I'd be surprised if Southern Expo goes ahead.

It looks like Scotland has blinked first and is banning public gatherings of 500 people or more as of Monday so I’m just waiting for the notification from the Scot Nat Show organisers to arrive.

Another announcement: I have a persistent cough. :ermm:

No need for alarm though (yet). Due do my step-daughters situation that I mentioned in the 'grump' thread, I'm a tiny bit stressed at the moment and when I'm stressed I have a persistent cough (not had it for many, many years). The trouble is that although I know I'm not infected, I'm going to get lynched if I go out and cough near people. They probably won't wait around long enough for me to explain and who can blame them.

Linda has said that she is still going to see her daughter (which I fully support) so the odds are that it's going to do the rounds of the Gorby household at some point.

Am I alone in thinking that this all seems surreal?

And it's all because some git ordered 'bat' on the menu. Remember SARS? That was traced back to bats as well. When will the orientals twig that eating bats is a really bad idea?

Very sensible Darren; hopefully see you back on the circuit when things get back to normal.  Stay well both of you.

I'm in a similar position.

I am waiting for surgery to remove nasal polyps which have proved resistant to any attempt to shrink them with drugs.

The obvious effect of this is that I have to cough to clear my throat. When this happens I cover my mouth but it still amazes me that quite a few people still snot and sneeze without covering.

One daren't take them to task either. They're already numpties so who knows how they would react to being pulled up about their questionable hygiene

Perhaps it is just as well that my trip to Slovakia has had to be cancelled as they'd probably detain me until every known test was done.

I still don't understand the whole thing yet. The virus appears to be a new one so can understand the concerns yet normal flu killed 646000 people worldwide last year whereas at moment around 5000 have died with COVID-19.

Regardless of the fact that I haven't got my head around it, I still take extra hygiene precautions.

well it had to happen and My wife has now developed a persistent dry cough today, (shes asthmatic anyway) so she now has to isolate for 7 days and I have to for 14, ( i have to have a conversation with work tomorrow as to whether i can continue to work from home)

I have had the conversation with Mish and if for some unfathomable reason Southern expo should go ahead BXM will not be attending, sorry if you were coming to see us but i have to:

a do the responsible thing

b put my wifes health first

Take care both of you, hopefully the cough is not Coronavirus related but it’s sensible to take the necessary precautions anyway.

At least you have plenty of people here that you can call upon to keep you amused if you get bored at any time.

He has instructions to spoil her rotten.

If she's anything like mine then he'll be banished in no time. She'll just want to be pampered until the novelty wears off.

Strange creatures wives!

Is that enough :stirthepot: ?

I'm sure she knows that we are all rooting for her but hopefully we can lighten the mood and giver her a laugh too during this worrying time.

Different species altogether.

My wife and I have been together for 48 years. Married for coming up 44.

We both worked opposite shifts ,she as a nurse and me in police then social work.

Until I retired 2 years ago we had probably only lived together for 18 months. 😁

Retirement took some adjustment on both parts.

Had about 20 years of that (Mrs B is also a nurse), but Mrs B then specialised at an out patients clinic (GUM actually, the only question I ever asked was did you wash your hands before coming home?) that was regular hours.
