Airfix 2020 (No spoilers here)

Recommended Posts

If you want to wait until the official announcement, I suggest you stay off Facebook and another forum, and no doubt other places as well.  Apparently someone has leaked the list.

No, I've not looked, I'm waiting until Monday.

See my post elsewhere. It would be good if we could avoid perpetuating the leak here and yes, somebody did spoil it for me by posting on Facebook, but my keyboard is locked to the topic and my lips are sealed.

Finally an 'Airfix 20**' thread on here. @Mad Steve will be overjoyed.

In fact there are two, as Paul and I posted within half an hour of each other.  Wouldn't want to disappoint Steve. ;)

I remember seeing G-FIRE at a show, can't remember which one complete with illuminated 'gunfire'.

The Scammells were mentioned on the leaked AMW page but they're not in the New for 2020 list on the Airfix website.

Would be nice if Airfix did box them so I could get them from my LHS
But maybe @BlackMike Models Duncan can get some in...

"Get some in" ...would that only be for RAF vehicles?  lol

Apparently the Scammells are in the new 2020 catalogue.
They still aren't on the website.  Have left a question on the Airfix Facebook page for confirmation.

Just been looking at the releases for 2020.

Top Gun, F-14A/T MiG (F-5E)/A-4, nice to see these getting a timely re-release. I remember building the MiG and the Tomcat back when they first came out. I'm not deluding myself to think these'll be updated in anyway, but for the F-5, be nice to have the original Red Star decals (I can't believe no AM companies haven't done the marking for the main film planes) That's 5 MiGs, 2 Tomcats and 2 A-4s, thanks Airfix!

Also, I saw a Tiger and Sherman duo - anyone up for an Oddball Vs the Tiger Build?

Finally some confirmation about the Scammells in today's Airfix Newsletter

Quote

As already covered with the new Beginner Sets overview, the Airfix team have also produced standard kit versions of both the WWII Sherman Firefly and the mighty Tiger 1 in 1/72nd scale and these will be joined by a new Tractor and Compactor (used during wartime airfield construction), a Scammell Pioneer Recovery Tractor and a Scammell R100 Artillery Tractor. It is significant that these new kits have been developed in 1/72nd scale and serve as an illustrator for future development in the Military Vehicle kit sector.

I'm really intrigued by the Compactor.  Guessing it's a roller pulled by the tractor, but Google offered no assistance.

Speculating, but probably licencing issues with the original film production company and whoever now owns the rights, thereof.
