Mad Steve 25,050
Afternoon everyone After all the shiny Red and White paint, I need to paint something green! This really is one hell of a kit... I built the Gaz Tiger a couple of months back - SUYATA 1/48 GAZ 233014 TIGER (FINISHED) - Page 2 - In Progress - All Scale Modeller (brexitmodeller.com). There are 8 runners in the kit, 4 for the GAZ & 4 for the T90. The detail and fit is quite amazing. There are lots of little pieces and some of the tabs holding the pieces on to the runners are a bit thick, but the plastic is soft enough to get it off without incident. The only con so far is the same as the Tiger, no paint call outs through the build The bottom hull was quite an easy build. the axle's have positive locking so that they all end up pointing the same way... Why are my pics blurry, sorry, Ill rectify it. Anyhoo, here is the Lower hull Painted in XF Black as a primer. At the same time this was painted, the wheels and tracks were done, wheels in Black, tracks in Dark Iron. There are two camouflaged vehicles in the choices to finish the T90, an Armenian & Syrian versions, but I shall be doing the plain old Russian green one Well then, more later I reckon.

Vaastav 3,265
Looks to be a promising build Madman. I'll pull up a chair and follow along if I may.

Mad Steve 25,050
Afternoon Everyone Looooooooooooooooots of fiddly little pieces The tracks went on, meh, okay, can't say I'm really impressed with them. They are very simple to fit, and the joints fit together nicely... (yeeees, tracks still need weathering) But this pee'd me off a bit... I relayed the tracks on this side 3 times. It's like they are a link short. I suppose its a big huffy about nothing really because them the upper hull is fitted you cant see this anyway. Anyhooo... onwards. The upper hull is quite a nice fit but again loads of fiddly bits. Once that was done, primed in Black And the fuel cans added as well.... (dammit bloody mold lines...) Thats it for now, lots of touch ups to do.
Gorby 21,590
Nice work. I'm surprised at the gap in the tracks. The Suyata kit I did was ultra fiddly but the fit was exceptional.
Mad Steve 25,050
I'm surprised as well Gorbs, like I said I re fitted them 3 times and that's the best I can get it fit.
Tolvcat 5,096
Some kits are just like that. Tamiya 1/48 link & length is a joy, unless it's a Tiger then it's a complete chore and beyond the wit of man to make it fit properly. Looks like you fought it to a draw and I'm sure it'll look fine when the hull top is on. Andy
Mad Steve 25,050
Afternoon Everyone Lazy Sunday afternoon, so I thought I'd get the turret done ready for painting... Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight... I remember making the Tamiya T62 Turret years ago, must have been about 12ish pieces in total. Just the machine gun cupola on this kit has over 20 parts..! The whole turret is almost a 100 pieces..., a 100 pieces for a 1/48th scale turret. Id hate to see what the interior kits are like, bloody hell. I wanted to get it finished but it was encroaching onto doggo feeding time so I'll finish it off tomorrow. Just have the IR sensors and barrel to fit. Ill get this finished hopefully in the next day or two, then get some paint on it.

Mad Steve 25,050
Afternoon metal heads Well hoooooooleeeeeee muppet fart.... This really is the most complex turret that I have ever built. Suyata have really done their homework on this one, because it is literally a perfect 1/48th copy of the real thing. It is extremely finicky and very fragile, but don't take my waffling's as gospel, go out and buy yourself one, right now... I left the turret to dry for an hour then gave it a flat black undercoat. That dried quickly, (it's 35DegC) and then the whole shebang was painted XF Dark Green. It's going to be in the colours of a 2011 (I think) Mayday Victory Parade, so it's going to be a pretty clean one.. (Massive decalling session tho...) I leave this to dry a day or two, then crack on.

Mad Steve 25,050 Posted yesterday at 06:51 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:51 PM Evenin All... I've decided the two Victory Day parade versions were just boring, so its one of the other three versions then. I chose the one I knew the least about, Tiger Division, Syria, 2016. (yeeeah and I just could not be arsed to do 4 colour paint job.) For me, it's getting close to the, 'I should do some more of the colouring in thing'.... So I need to wrap this up PDQ. What do you lot think... Need to blend in a few fufu's and do a last soft aluminium dry brush and then the mammoth decaling session can begin (all 2 of then ) Thats it for now...

Tolvcat 5,096 Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:16 PM Think you picked the perfect point to stop. Anything more would start with diminshing returns and end in disaster. You can maybe tell I rather like that 1
