A rare occasion for me..a tidy bench.

Somehow or another a SH Gnat arrived there.

I blame that @skwonkchappie..he did plant the seed after all with his build. :D

Even more of a mystery is how suddenly 21 parts of a model get stuck together.

It's a mystery I tell you.

This one will be finished as XK741 which was used for weapons trials.

I will probably use the later style tanks and will decide whether rockets or bombs go on the inner pylons later. Rockets top the list at moment.

This is the aircraft currently masquerading as a Finnish one at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry.

I'm going to have the canopy open so will detail the seat a bit more. In fact I'm not totally convinced about the accuracy of the kit seat so it may be replaced or at least greatly modified.

It wasn't on display the last time I was there. If you need me to take photos of it just let me know and I'll pop over.

As I'm having the canopy open, I had a good look at the kit seat.

For some reason it gives the head restraint as fixed to the bulkhead. Wonder how the driver would fare when he banged out if that was the case.

I binned the kit seat and built my own using a photo in my Gnat book for reference. Said head restraint retained but cut down. The rest from card and wire. Still a fair bit to add.

Have a ganders at this phot. When I used kit parts for this I initially thought that 'B' shape was a grab handle but the red bit I added using wire. It's probably fallen off by now. Removal of masking may reveal all.

There appears to be variations in the early seat.

Your photo shows what might be the definitive early seat.(as opposed to the later type in the Ajeet)

The photo I'm using from the book shows a central pole rather than the solid bit shown there above the parachute pack and it is outside the first prototype so must be one of the first seats.

Looks like I'll need to modify my new seat !
