Paul Brown 8,231
Yep, you read that correctly, this is a 1/35 carrier bridge, plus a B5N2 to pose with it. For lovers of the Seriously Large!!! Here's a view of the Akagi. And the kit.
Drichc 555
OMG, OMG, HFS. When and how much? I was a bit meh about the Kate as it wouldn’t sit well with all my 1/32 (unbuilt) IJN, IJAAF stuff, but this…………….changes everything! Edited May 25 by Drichc
Paul Brown 8,231
RRP is still TBA.
mac1677 4,951
Oh I would get one of these, but I don't have much interest in the carrier island. Maybe if they do a stand alone Kate
Paul Brown 8,231
The Kate was announced last year, I'd be very surprised if it weren't released as a stand alone.
dixieflyer 4,731
And don't you know they're going to release a slew of figures to go with it! My mind is still boggled as to why they picked that scale. I know many a time I've thought of how I'd like to pose an armor build next to a Kate or a carrier island, but . . . .

BlackMike Models 9,460
If it's on a par with the quality of their 1/35 scale Stuka and Bf109 then it's going to be an absolute cracker. The Fw190A is due in the UK this month so hopefully this won't be too far behind it. Watch "this space" for more details. Duncan B

I was discussing this with a mate today. He reckons because there are alot more figures available in 1/35 to convert to jap sailors perhaps.
Tolvcat 4,033
I can understand their previous 1/35 aircraft as I can imagine them in diorama settings with existing figures and/or vehicles but this one seems completely left field. All the renders make it look like a fantastic kit in it's own right and I'd have one just on that basis, but there's not a lot of other 1/35 Japanese stuff out there that you could use to fill out a diorama if you don't spring for the bridge set and any associated figures they release. There are other Japanese WW2 aircraft that would have fitted the scale better. Let's hope they know something I don't and it's successful enough that they keep doing aircraft in armour scale. BlackMike Models 9,460
I wonder if it is as simple as they have decided to do something a bit different and make 1/35 their signature scale as Airfix sort of did did with 1/24 aircraft back in the day? Anyway I'm sure there will be more to come from them. Duncan B
