RWG686 35,546
Using these I'm going to build this lovely machine: The plan is to use the new Airfix kits along with the (terrible) Airmodel conversion kit. Here is an Airfix fuselage with a resin nose from a Basler conversion. The Basler conversion means I have an Airfix nose going spare. To give the longer nose for the C-117 and to avoid the vacform, I'm going to use this spare nose added to an Airfix fuselage which will be cut further forward than that of the Basler conversion, thus giving me the extended fuselage with only one cut on each fuselage half. A is the Basler with the pencil line showing where the cut will be and B is the C-17. The measurements will be done properly and those marks are just to show you what I plan. @Che Guava did the drawings 50 years ago and @DC3has provided US style title and number decals. This will be a long project with only occasional updates.

Che Guava 4,685
This is the actual subject - apologies for the quality, cheap Gratispool slide material and the storage conditions of a Turkish prison. I'll put the rest in the walk-rounds section presently. 3

Col. 7,843
Nice subject choices Richard and this answers a question that's been rattling about my head for a wee while on the differences between a DC3/C-47 and the C-117

Quite rare beasties and I only ever saw two As and a B. The C-117D was the so called 'Super Dakota' with very obvious changes to the whole plane. They were regular visitors to LM in the sixties.

Says the man who jumped out of perfectly serviceable aircraft for a living Probably just bonkers rather than brave Tony. It's a type I've always liked so after 50 years plus, I thought it time to try. 2
