davidwomby 114
B-25G FR209. She originally had a full gun nose and went to the RAF for evaluation as a gunship. At some point, she had a glazed nose fitted and, in that form, went on to provide service as the personal transport of a senior RAF officer (I can't remember which). At first she was highly polished and wore C-type roundels, a nose crest and a rank pennant. By 1950, she appeared at Farnborough like this. She may have dulled or she may have been painted silver and she had only a crest on the nose. She was based at Hullavington so the crest may have been the Empire Central Flying School or an Air Navigation School but I can't tell from the photos I have and, anyway, I don't have either of those. So, 272 Squadron's crest has been used - I hope forgivably. There are my usual blunders here and there but I love the look of this scheme on her. David
