Piper L-4 aircraft, 1/72 scale.

Recommended Posts

Hello colleagues.
Model of a Piper L-4 aircraft, 1/72 scale, I do not remember the manufacturer.
The fuselage and wings are from the kit, the rest is made from scratch. The cockpit floor is made of alder. Engine bonnet is made of aluminium foil. Engine, consists of kit cylinders with author's etching. The cylinders are chemically painted. Cockpit glazing, partially homemade. Propellers, landing gear struts, wheels, handmade.
Pilot planted, as requested by customer. Without tinting etc. also at customer's request.

Very nice!

Many years ago, a friend of mine proposed to do this type of etching to portray a rotary engine on a WWI build. I really like what you did, proving the concept.

Yes, this is probably the only technology that allows you to build a good replica. If the cylinders are round, you can turn them on a lathe, but you have to resharpen the cutter yourself, which is not an easy task either.
