Painting information

Recommended Posts

British uniforms were known as "khaki drab", German as "field grey". As far as I know, tin hats were different, basically the same colours as the vehicles. Depending on theatre/timing the UK colour would be described as "dark green" or some shade of "olive". The German colour was a medium-dark grey known as Panzergrau or "tank grey." But the reality was that paint batches and weathering varied wildly and anything that looks about right to your eye is about right historically too. Boots generally black.

Boy howdy I remember struggling with that in the late 60's/early 70's with the paints available at the drug store and five & dime. When I found a real hobby shop and mail order, man did I go to town buying proper colors!

Yeah, this confused me as a child because "field grey" wasn't grey, but a green with a greyish cast. WWII Stahlhelms were also "field grey" but went from a very, very dark grey-green, almost charcoal/green to a lighter shade, especially with repaints, etc.

I thought the boxes were pretty self-explanatory without needing a complete explanation.

Its in Colour, and has paint numbers... Simples.

The 1/76 scale boxes don’t show paint colours
