Airfix 1/180 scale HMS Victory with aftermarket wood decks

Recommended Posts

They do, next to a model of something crashed or destroyed, PE enhancements  are some of the most labour intensive modelling extra works

I've done.

The Nelson chequer starting to show itself with the separate gun port lids added, just the moulded closed one's to pick out in black.

The pegs correcting the deck fit faults.

the ornate focs'l bulkhead painted and fitted.

part way through painting the Stern Gallery, what a Job this is with a capital J. Sprayed the base ochre then a lightly applied

black wash, let that dry then go for a second coat, then touch in the Ochre later

Thanks for the positive comments Guys, the PE continues to improve the look of the kit, here's the skylight on the Poop Deck, I'll glaze that with pva glue too.

they really do hutch, I'm really pleased with the way they transorm this old kit. The focs'l Hammock

netting differs from the rest by being mounted outboard.

rather than trying to attach the nett by the edge of the PE part, I've bent two right angle brackets to superglue to the ships

side, they will have more surface area.

in addition to filling the glazing up on the stern the hull to do list looks like this.

CJmuGRzF_o.png

1. paint and fit entry port tops.
2. paint and fit figure head
3. stern lamps
4. port and starboard Davits at the Stern
5. finish ships boats and fit them to the chocks midships
6. PE handrails fitted to the opening above the weather deck
7 paint and fit stern jack
8. paint and detail binnacle cabinet, fit on the quarterdeck
9. construct the PE Marine walk and safety netting after installing the Bowsprite mast.

then I can start on the masts, yards and rigging

I've improved the look of Marine walk by fitting square section rod under either side to bolster it's appearance. The Dolphin striker fitted still in bare Airfix

plastic.

the stern Davits fitted port starboard and at the top of the Stern gallery, I'm wondering if the latter were fitted during Trafalgar.

but they look good so I'll leave them on.

there's always the unexpected, especially when you see a ejector pin mark on an Anchor you missed....

Looks impressive, Sprocket - how would you rate the PE additions (mainly the hammock netting & the shrouds)?

Bum.  Never mind - it's annoying, but at least it's easy to deal with (still looks impressive )

...and having filled, smoothed, repainted and refitted, you suddenly realise there's another one.

The time I spend touching-up my models (quiet at the back, there!) is highly classified.
