A Short Intermission

Added the first trooper to go with the officer above. Starting to get more of a feel for these fellas now, and the best way to build/paint them - which is to make sub assemblies where you can still get a brush in. Hardly rocket science, but it's working out how big/small those assemblies should be that takes practice.

Remebered to weather over the bright white unit decal this time. Much nicer and more natural looking. If only I could do that on aircraft.

Nice painting Andy. The glass effect is very good on the goggles and dials.

Thank you. It's Citadel Contrast paint, which is one step up from ink. Applied over a white or light grey base it gives that glassy effect, especially with a dab of satin varnish afterwards. I'm still learning about what else it can do.

Always helps if you can have some fast support when you're out hunting them pesky dwarfs. Here, they come in the form of Serberys Raiders - Skitarii on cyborg horses. What the horses have to say aout the ironmongery remains unrecorded.

Note the eyes, transforming the steed from prey to predator :o

Penny shot. Got to have a penny shot, it's a custom or an old charter or something.

The boys all together. My photography gets no better :/

That fella was a bit labour intensive. I'm off to do a 1,000,000 piece jigsaw as a bit of light relief now :D

Thanks Mark. The new style GW sculpts help a lot. Even since they switched to plastic there's a definite quality difference between their first efforts and the latest stuff which is a joy to paint and clicks together like Tamiya. Modern paints and an Optivisor take care of most of the rest. That and LOTS of practice  - I'm not showing anyone the crate full of rubbish ones I learned on :D

Honestly! Some folk have no sense of adventure.

Says he who wouldn't have the foggiest idea of where to start with these.

I get that; for all I churn out figures, I look at the large scale stuff Skwonk does and sit scratching my head as there are two totally different skill sets required. I can't paint 1/35 armour either - it's too big for the brushes I've got.
