I wonder which will be the most popular. Why the hell 1/43? Why the scale or why did Airfix choose it? The former because it is a model railway and diecast car scale (equivalent to 7mm to the foot) so there is a lot of stuff out there in that scale already. The latter I suspect because it allows them to keep the price down and they have stated that for this year and next they will be doing a lot of starter/quickbuild stuff to rejuvinate their market and bring younger/newer modellers into the fold. Good though that there's a choice Andy
PaulTRose 9,090
i said similar in a similar thread on another forum the answer was that 'its model railway scale' to which i answered 'well it should be have Hornby on the box instead of Airfix then' and people couldnt understand why i said it!
Paul Brown 7,762
From what I can gather the 1/43 kits are selling well. It's not just the railway connection, the scale is popular amongst model car collectors in its own right.

I was only aware (from Scalemates) that a few eastern European companies use the scale. 14 minutes ago, Tolvcat said: RM Toys 1/43 Some of those are eye watering prices. Huntsman’s Close 629
1/43 was massively popular for white metal and resin racing car kits from the 80s onwards. It is surprising convenient for display. Edited January 13 by Huntsman’s Close
Mad Steve 20,611
43rd scale kits are a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge market, plus, the people that play chuff chuffs, its O scale. It's a clever move by Airfix. On the whole, 43rd scale kits are usually Resin and expensive, so it's a cheap way into the scale.
Tolvcat 3,529
Looking at the rest of the program (it is a thread about Revell after all). it looks quite safe which chimes with new owners finding their feet. Very limited new tools and lots of collaborations and re-releases. Not much to get my blood racing, but equally not much to scare the bean counters either. If it means Revell are still here next year to spring some surprises I'll take that. Andy
Gorby 17,213
Looks like I'm the only person in the known universe to not know about 1/43 scale. I'll add it to the ever growing list of 'Things I know nothing about'. I think it's got to volume seven so far.

Heller of course dipped into plastic 1/43, some rally cars I think and a Williams FW11, McLaren MP4/3 and Ferrari F187. I built the last one and haven’t got around to the others but I thought it was very good value, a nice little kit.
Mad Steve 20,611
Yep, Heller did a nice range of 43rd scale cars, including a Rover 3500, Jag XJS and an Austin Princess and Mini

dixieflyer 4,388
Yeah, I remember reading about 1/43rd scale being a thing, especially for racing/sport/formula 1 cars, etc. So, yeah, I get it.

So far all they have pushed out is this. Good stuff, a picture of a real DB5 (is it a still from one of the films?). The kit is Easy Click System, b8ut that's not necessarily a setback, the 2017 Ford GT is actually pretty good, pictured below and strictly out of the box to see how it would stand up. The one thing that might let the DB5 down is the wheels.

Other than being a Platinum Edition (which accounts for the eye watering RRP), no. There is speculation that it will be a HK Models re-box, but unlike previous years the schedule has no indication of provenance. 1

Yes, the wheels have been an issue on a couple of previous kits (Mclaren & AMG), but I have resin copies of the Tamiya Jag Mk II that should do the trick
