steelpillow 602
These old sets are being reissued. Are they still the same un-paintable, un-bashable polythene or are they now a better-quality plastic? Does superglue work with them? I am thinking of getting the RAF ground crew set, as much for its bicycle and trolley acc as anything else. Edited November 21, 2022 by steelpillow

Priming them with diluted PVA glue (I now give them two coats) and then using normal primer. It works quite well for me anyway. On a previous build I did find a glue which worked quite well but now I've forgotten what it was. neat PVA works well for attaching them to a base so that might be the one. 3
dixieflyer 4,134
Years ago Krylon paints had a spray paint designed for use on plastic outdoor furniture. I read a post by a guy who tried it on these figures and he said it worked very well as a primer. 1
steelpillow 602
Thanks all. The other problem I had was that the flash bent under even the sharpest scalpel and refused to be cut off, or sanded down for that matter. Other than dunking the little perishers in liquid nitrogen, is there a way round that?

Cut the nastiness off the best you can and then use Tamiya Extra thin on the seams. Usually, it eats the raggedness. 2

So the one night this winter when it actually freezes, then. 🥶

Huntsman’s Close 593
If you have the facility, cast resin copies. I did that with several figures for my big Halifax diorama. They are very easy to paint and modify. Some figures aren’t in a piss that will cast easily in one part though.
