RWG686 35,548
I swithered about this group as I have no great interest but as I had the kit in the stash I thought I'd might as well have a go. This will be my second ever car build so I will probably be bugging you all with questions. Starting with this and the first thing I decided to change was this. A quick PM to the bottom of the world and @Mad Steve told me the bleach trick. Took seconds and I now have white plastic parts. That's part 1 out of the way. Don't hold your breath waiting for part 2.
PaulTRose 9,091
Proper car! I did the revell one a few years ago and it's still one of my fave in the display case

If it was a subject I'm really interested in I may have done so. So saying when I reach part 437 of the build and decide the wheels are crap..who knows ? 3 hours ago, Kevin said: so looking forward to part 624 Sorted that for you.
RWG686 35,548
Well I suppose I'd better start. Research shows that there were at least three different ' number eights' and so far I haven't found any photos of the real car 'BY2745' represented in the kit. As I have the mad idea to have one side of the engine open, I looked at engines and found three different versions. Anyway..that's for later to decide. I started with some bits stuck together and tomorrow will start the clean up. I may also strip that fuel tank back and add proper straps and fuel lines. Just can't do an out of box build can I ?

PaulTRose 9,091
are you planning on detailing the engine? wire for making jewelry is good for spark plug wire

Blue Noser 3,948
Nice choice of subject, I did always fancy this but never plumped for it. Is it the same kit as the Airfix? I know they had a bit of a cooperation going on.

As far as I know Airfix hasn't done a 1/24 Bentley - only one in 1/32 and one in 1/12.

RWG686 35,548
A first lick of paint on the engine block, the chassis stuck together apart from the fuel tank. Sat the bits on to see what I'm going to be playing with. A great deal of nothingness in front of the engine it seems.

Theres actually quite a bit happening in that little space 😀 We wont accept anything less than photo realism At least you wont have people telling the engines are the wrong way round on this build
RWG686 35,548
The fuel tank in the kit assembled then all the detail scrubbed off which also left a hole. Believe it or not the bit that looks still sticky up is flat. and to keep @Col. happy..some filler. The chassis has been painted green and is drying. Meanwhile I have printed off a forest's worth of paper for the engine gubbins. (*) (*) This in no way holds the plastic basher to super detailing the engine and cutting open the bonnet to show said engine. 3
RWG686 35,548
Tank sanded down and new strips added (cut from a pvc sheet) It has been painted and is drying. The bonnet has had the clunky detail cleaned off (left) and the original on right.
RWG686 35,548
Been potterin' aboot with the engine. There are three different 'silvers' there but flash hid them! The studs on top need filing down a wee bit.
RWG686 35,548
Engine on chassis,. Fuel tank with new mesh added. Rear axle with gubbins also attached.

TimJ 50
That's coming along well, great job. I started a Humbrol boxing of this kit some time in the 1980's, I really should get it finished.
Gorby 18,715
There's quite a lot more detail than I thought there would be.
