Thanks, Col, there are some handy tips here, especially the use of marker/paint pens - so obvious, but I never seem to think of it!  I almost* fancy building a bike!

Here's this morning's entertainment for a slow day at work. Back to Easy Modeler for a video on Tamiya's Honda RC166 kit

I'm getting the impression the modeler doesn't have a huge amount of technical experience with motorbikes and don't always agree with the where the techniques employed are deployed but still found there was a lot to learn from it.
