I think this is a male Giant Horntail in the garden this afternoon

And I've got a photo of a female Giant Horntail in my garden:

Perhaps we could start Tinder for Giant Horntails.

Inveraray this afternoon was mobbed with folk and I was surprised to see nobody near the war memorial so grabbed a quick phone camera snap.

The first ship I joined had a deck apprentice officer called Donald frae Inveraray; or it could have been Inverurie, lovely lad, gentle Jockinese giant, in fact I think it was, so please ignore my senile ramblings. Loved that ship,so many good times, so many good memories

almost post apocalyptic

Apocalyptic!? That doesn't look apocalyptic to me. If you want to see apocalyptic I would offer to spend the day photographing some of the even less desirable areas of Cov. I won't because I would probably be mugged.

Mind you, it could be worse...I could post photos of Nuneaton. :22_yikes:

A day at Helston Heritage railway and a small local Transport Heritage event today with the memsahib. A volunteer group restoring sections of line with a working steam train you can ride in the carriages. Took the Moocher out for her first run in a month. I wasn't exhibiting her; that may come next year.

Quite a pleasant couple of hours as it was a small event so no crowds and doughnut wagons and you could wander round at leisure and chat with the owners. A fair few cars and other vehicles on display but here's a small selection.

Valid tickets.

A Jowett.

Some Landys. Any of our northern compatriots know where Cowglen is? Chatted with the owner, originally from Aberdeen, of this one for quite some time. Had a sit in it and oh yes, want one now.

a lot of Moggies being exhibited today, the owners are all keen to chat, and encouraged me to show Alice, my Moggie Pickup, as they know of only one other in the county.

one item that really got my interest as I'd love to own one....

there's no sign that a Dozer blade was fitted, just a few mounting holes.

there were a few creatures of the kind I can't stand, making easy money giving the public, including children rides on a barely serviceable FV432, The lead torsion bar is clearly broken leaving roadwheel number 1 off the ground  when the vehicle is in motion, if that axle shifts outboard it could jamb up against the following wheels causing a catastrophic sudden halt, everyone on board would be thrown forward, including small children. I had a few words and got a load of unconvincing waffle in reply, I'll be taking this up with H&S, retired yes, but I still have a few contacts.
