Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Seafire FR.46 (A06103)

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I don't have many "nautical" aircraft, but I do have an Airfix 1/48 Seafire...so I will try and cobble it together 😋

Box art:

And the scheme I am doing, RNAS Lossiemouth 1948:

I will hopefully get a start on this soon.

Thanks for looking in 😁

Aha! Captain Casper John's famous LA546/900.

Probably a good idea not to load it for "bear" and keep it pretty clean,he was only Lossie's Station Commander and used LA546 as his personal aeroplane at the time.

Some 'erbert "next door" did it some years ago, rockets hanging off of it and it looked as though someone had just used it to clean out the coal house,it was that dirty.

He didn't go too far in the Navy.........

LA546 itself was recovered from a scrappy in the 70's by non other than Peter R Arnold and has been with Tim Manna at Kennet Aviation for the past 13 years undergoing a slow painstaking restoration to airworthiness.

There were only 24 of them ever built, most were used as Station Flight or Station Commander's

personal steeds.

I was only going to put a drop tank on her, or not...we shall see 😜 And as for the "keep it pretty clean" thing, that sucks as I am terrible at building factory fresh models 😲

Hi all,

Here is yesterdays progress, I forgot to take any pictures of the cockpit before I cemented shut the fuselage. I have added an Eduard PE seat harness:

All the ancillary bits have been built and she just needs masked and she will be ready to splash some paint around 😃
