Cool. Are you rebuilding a vw or did you just sneak into some random persons garage?

I'm rebuilding Mickey the 1972 VW Bug. Step by step...

here's mickey's body shell. With it's new front and rear I've welded on using Britfix glue lol

I did a body to chassis test fit on the model Buggy and found I had let parts 22 go up at the wrong angle so they fouled the fuel tanks, this stops a flush fit. It should have a downward angle to part 21 rear axle.

so took it apart and made it look like this diagram, when I make another one of these, and it's such a fun little kit, I will. I'll modify the rings on the dampers part 23, they're overscale and I'll add them once the 22 is mounted downward like mickey's

the body to chassis fit is excellent, and that join of floor to tub side is very much on show, so it has to be flush.

next up, seats, windscreens, chrome bars, lights, boot cover. and figure painting.

The passenger looks like she's been indulging in some of the 1960s' finest recreational chemicals. Come to think of it, so does the driver. He thinks he's holding on to the wheel...

Like, shuwah man 😬

that's it for now, all the components fitted, figures painted, the harsh light doesn't do my figure painting many favours, and my figure painting needs all the help it can get. Now the model will go on the waiting for a diorama base, , flying sand and water, and of course a glass case.

on the whole, to my eye, it's a neat and tidy little model, well worth the time.

nice little Union flag on the tail, very patriotic.

Next project is also going to be an Airfix kit. HMS Warspite

thank you all for your interest in this new released kit, maybe we could have beach Buggy GB one day. Here's some more of the model in daylight, still haven't gotten around to making the sea and sand diorama for it.finished_model_in_daylight_cjpg_lfalwt.jfinished_model_in_daylight_ejpg_ktuw3x.jfinished_model_in_daylight_a_qspze6.jpg

Nice,very 70's Metal flake.

Wouldn't want one of those in a 99 ice cream.
Mind you the amount of sweets we scoffed as kids were equally as bad for our teeth.
