The second of my cheap and cheerful interwar pair.

The colour "guide" is provided in the description and is just said to have been green, which isn't very helpful!
No idea what colour the prototype is supposed to be but I'm going for the closest match I can get to the colour profile
Think it is probably lighter than the actual colour, but the model is going to sit on my shelf so I don't care what any experts say! xD

Simple kit as can be seen and as there is very little of the interior that can be seen when the fuselage halves are joined that I'm not going to scratch any cockpit details to save ti

Just a single sprue of white flash covered plastic.

and I noticed a problem with the struts.   Fortnight with @Gorby in Coventry if you can spot it.
(Spot the problem with the struts, not Coventry)

The solution was to shape some styrene strip and cement to the strut, then add a splint of thin styrene on either side of the strut, and sand down.
The splints are now super thin but hopefully will provide enough support, as the struts have no load bearing function on the model.

The decals are still on the back bedroom window soaking up whatever morning sunlight the Barnsley sky can offer in winter.
Would not have had much luck when the mine was working as the air would have been full of black dust.

Only if i can stay at their house while they're here. :smiling:

Wouldn't it be easier to carve it out of balsa?

Here's one I photographed in the museum at Kosice in 2011.

Sweet!
I think that is the Avia BH-11
KP have done a new tooling including a an attractive civil  version that I want, but sadly is not available as far as my googling can tell :(

So it is.  How could I have missed the different engine and the fact that its got two seats ?

I suppose its because ,like Messerschmitt 109s and Focke-Wulf 190s, I have no real interest in the subject so they all look the same to me. (although the Avia is more interesting than the aforementioned two)

Ach weel.  Useful when your package arrives from Kingkit I suppose.

The photo was most welcome.
I really like these old chaps and the image has a tail section sticking out of the wall for extra whimsical value.!
Also I wouldn't have found Kingkit had one. had you not prompted me to google.
Trawled the internet for a civvy version, but only military versions were available.

Progress on the Avia
The fit of the instrument panel fit was not only poor but in the wrong place
I should have removed the location bar and moved the IP back so that the control column was in front of the IP, but that would have meant a extra work and I'm not sure that it would have been worth it.

The fuselage halves went together pretty well.
The only problem being that the starboard half was taller than the port
Alignment was made on the topside due to the raised details on the cowling.  So after a fair bit of fettling and tidying up the tailplane slot it all got together.
I shim of styrene card was needed in said slot and the tailplanes were able to be cemented level!

The wing root is a tad precarious.  I've not checked underneath yet,  as I want the cement to cure before  flipping the bird upside down!
Some raised details were lost with all the sanding so bits have been replaced or rescribed as necessary.

Doh sorry about the out of focus photo
Didn't pause to take any more interior shots  :wallbash:

Checking against the front profile drawing on the instruction sheet the dihedral looks okay
Damaged a couple of exhaust stacks drilling the holes but should be easy enough to sort out.

Thanks as always for your kind words and for watching along!

DARREN!  Darren, Vastaav has definitely bugged my house and is listening in!
This has to be a violation of forum rules!  xD

I think I may have said, "Oh dear what a shame!"  or words to that effect when the starboard wing struts came off the wing and the Tamiya Extra Thin melted the base of my carefully crafted repair when being glued back in place.  😇

xD

To be fair, compared to the wings on the I-L this kit is a doddle! lol

Well you know, I had a little help from my friends V. Putin, as well as friendly local repair guy Vasya.

This was a KGB operation. Thank you for your time

Thanks @Blue Noser

This afternoon I did do a paint on a model!
Almost unheard of!

I've tried to find out what sort of green the prototype was painted but found no definite answer just various shades of green that various modellers chose to apply as they saw fit.
I really liked the green used on the back of the box colour profile and am getting something like it with a mix of Vallejo paints.
Pale Green + Duck Egg Green needed some warming up and soI added some Dark Yellow.

If it's not accurate I care not.  I like it! xD
t28x74961rd9ng56g.jpg

Hope to get the painting finished off later.

The decals have been sunning themselves as best they can throughout the winter on the back bedroom window, and while they have improved, they are still showing a touch of yellowing
Not sure a day or two more is going to make the difference

It's little bit less green now! xD

xt996tkwuj9rufx6g.jpg

Decided not to faff around with masking tape to paint the cowling and just brush painted the black then metal
Made a mix of Vallejo Aluminium and Chrome for the metal.

Hopefully will make the leather padding after dinner which should cure for painting tomorrow evening.
There's no value in my rushing at this point, just gonna plod along and enjoy the hobby.

Thanks for all the kind words and support which is always appreciated!

Very nice indeed. I’ve not come across the type before but it has a lot of character

For the benefit of future modellers/interior decorators searching for the colour reference - Depends on how you’ve lit it so I’m not sure if it is Willow Creek 1  https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/colour-details/willow-creek-1 or Parrot’s Plume https://www.dulux.co.uk/en/colour-details/parrots-plume

Having struggled with the undercarriage and having the starboard strut break off the fuselage it's more like 💩creek!  xD

Final update on the Avia.  The wheels are on and apart from some touch ups on the paintwork, it will be ready for the decals, when they eventually ripen.
I will at least have the time to get them as clear as possible now.

Need to straighten the prop too!

So next time you see the Avia it will be in the Ready-For-Inspection forum.
As always it's disappointing to have missed the deadline.
But I've enjoyed the GB immensely and the standard and range of kits in the gallery are fab

Thanks to all who have participated and/or watched along for making the GB such a good experience.
