hi guys

I have this one on another couple of forums but not one here for what ever reason but alas be rest assured; you have not gotten away that easily as I now start another thread here!

Yes, you can roll your eyes even more as you see the same post in different places clearly showing the ultimate act of laziness: copy and paste.

here's a quick recap of the action you may have previously forgotten - intentionally or otherwise

looks exciting and very intricate

I am not sure what the end subject looks like and wont spoil my imagination by running a google search, so I will just enjoy watching your craftsmanship come together and wait to see what this turns out to look like.

Happy 2018

John

Thanks guys. In that case John, I won't put up a box art pic so as not to ruin the surprise

So I had the camera out today and I took a couple of shots to show you what the engine looks like on and where I am currently up to. I have to buy more plugs tomorrow before I can go on. So far, I am happy with it. It looks much better than the kit version (IMO). Decide for yourselves

Still lots more surface work to do yet. Stay tuned

looking good - did you by any chance pick this up at Telford from Tony James stall - I'm starting to see a shape come together here that looked rather like a stack of kits he had up against the side wall?

No unfortunately I have never been to Telford before and i would love to go one day. So alas, no i didnt swing by the stall. I got this from HLJ for very cheap.

nothing new yet sorry John. I won't be doing an work in it now for a couple of weeks as I'm on leave but I am heading away with a mate. I'll update again once I have done some something worth taking pics of

Hi guys and girls

Time for a mini update. Sorry it's taken so long to show anything but I haven't had a lot of build time lately.

Here's what I have done so far. I have begun to detail the top plate and that's pretty much all done now - just need to install it which I will do later once the super structure is done. I'll be starting on that piece tonight hopefully.

Aft end:

Looking forward:

Start of the surface details:

Underneath - which as you'll see had a slight issue with deformed engine bells and there is zero I can do about it:

And finally, a full lighting test (just to make sure I haven't screwed something up as usual):

So, that's all I have for now but it's all coming along nicely now and I am hoping to have this done in the next few weeks ready for Expo

As always, thanks for looking in

looking really cool but I have a question: How are you going to paint this with the pin head fibre optics already trimmed back? how will you mask them???

and where is that SSD ..... next on your production line I hope...

I ended up ditching the fibers from the side as I felt they just didn't work that well. I'm in the process of filling in those holes which is not an easy task and that's why nothing has happened with this for a few weeks

Its funny you should mention the SSD as I have been gearing up to start this soon. With the change in plans for the house (yet again), it gives me some breathing room to start such a mammoth project. I have spent a while working and marking out the areas that need grinding back ready to accept lighting. This will be a job to do in the garage when it cools down a bit. Don't worry - it will be started this year I promise. In the mean time, you'll just have to make do with the Andromeda and the upcoming Gundam Sniper MK2 that's I'll be posting images of soon :) (I've never done a Gundam figure before and it's not normally my cup of tea but this one's pretty cool by my standards - which you can take any way you like)

wow - it's been a long time since I last updated this build thread but then I haven't been working on it much due to other commitments/builds. However, I am aiming to get this done for Expo in June, so I have picked it up again in the hope of just getting it done. I've also picked up the Garmillas set 2 and 3 and I am chomping at the bit to start set 3 as it has the best looking ship of the Garmilla fleet in my opinion. I'll consider doing a WIP thread for that one when I start it

Back to the Andromeda, all the lighting is installed and working and now it's time to finish off the surface detailing. I haven't lit the Wave Gun because I just couldn't be bothered with the hassle. I lit the Yamato WG and I can count how many times i have used it on one hand since it was finished.

Surprisingly, I have had to use a fair amount of putty to fill in the gaps. Thank goodness for the Perfect Plastic Putty product as it cleans up with water and cotton buds really easily.

Its a great product and I highly recommend it.

Time for some pics

Well, that's all for now. Hopefully, the next update will either be the last one or the finished item. I'm looking to do a fleet display with this , the Yunagi and also a destroyer. Maybe even a Garmilla ship too.

Thanks for looking

I had the camera out today so I thought I'd snap a few pics of where I am with the Andromeda. It's almost ready for paint. I just need to add some details to the bottom and then it's all ready for painting.

I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out. I know some people don't like 'borgifying' clean lines, but that's OK.

Thanks for looking
