Dan 17
A couple of Spits and a couple Messers Open for critique, I was quite pleased with them but I feel they could have been better. I think a satin varnish on the next one will be better than matt. Where can I improve? Exhaust staining I missed as well as the E-4's cannons.
Grunhertz 17,472
Look pretty good to me dan apart from what you have already mentioned but the dog looks totally unrealistic lol
Dan 17
@Walrus The first two are Tamiya, the second two Airfix. All four are 1/48. Thank you for commenting. Here's another pairing, much more dogfight double, this time in 72nd
Guest
They look superb, a very nice collection. The finish is very matte, but I'm sure I have seen period photos of such a finish. Really very nice models, top job.
BlackMike Models 9,661
The crisp, fresh paintwork with the amount of chipping doesn't do it for me. Both techniques have been very well executed but look out of place together so I would suggest trying to fade the paintwork in places if you are going for a worn look (and possibly varying what shows beneath the paint, bare metal is fine but try having patches of primer too) or toning down the chipping if you want to keep the paintwork fresh. Adding some weathering would be a must too to complete the uncared for look. In the last photo taken from above the 109 looks like a well looked after aircraft, clean paint and few signs of wear, which works well but the Spitfire looks like it needs to be scruffier for the amount of paint missing so this is where I'd fade the paint and add a lot of streaks of grime to give the impression of a hard worked aircraft. Also worth remembering that if you are going for a worn look all parts of the aircraft will probably be worn equally so that would include the markings, propellors etc. Duncan B

ArmouredSprue 58
I'd second Duncan's comments. But overall looks good.
