Hello guys, I thought I'd put up some WIP pictures of my latest in progress project. Here's the subject - the Czech Air Force Mi-24v Hind Alien Tiger... I'm not dwelling too much on the interior with this build - the kit cockpit will be good enough for this one... Racing ahead, the fuselage going together... The Revell kit is of the Mi-24D whereas the Czech Alien Tiger is the Mi-24V (or Mi-35 which is the export designation). So a few bits will need to be added to convert her to the 24-V spec. One of the items is the IR jammer (Disco light as it's known). This was scratch built starting with a blob of Milliput (on top of cling film so it doesn't stick)... Then cut to rough shape with a razor saw and sanded... A little bit of detail scribed into the Milliput and the jammer made from Sprue and styrene rod wrapped around it. Two more sensors scratch built - this time RHAW sensors. Almost ready for paint - here's a quick mockup... Here's the canopy - seams sanded and fettled into position... And a view of the extended tail boom. The light grey insert is from a CMK resin kit. The kit includes weight on wheels, flare dispensers and fuel tanks. In hind sight ("HIND sight" - I'm here all week!) I could have also got a CMK kit that included the IR jammer and other bits but I only worked that out after I had scratch built the parts - no worries, had fun doing them anyway. And finally for tonight a pic of the beginning of the paint job. This photo is really a test piece to see if I can get a fine enough pattern with the airbrush to freehand the entire paint job, and to tune in my paint to thinner ratios to get a good consistency for micro airbrushing. The brown colour is a custom mix of Tamiya colours and I'm pretty happy that it's close to the original colour. I will need to work on refining some of the fine details to get them so they look sharper - but happy with that as a start.
