Helloooooo Everyone As you know, I am a Nuneatonist, having lived there until I was forcibly uprooted in my 13th year to go live in Africa's Bottom. I used to live about 2k's away from Bramcote Barracks, and actually spent many a sunday and openday there through friends and family etc and at that time only really vaguely being aware that it used to be an RAF Base during the war. Now, Hairyplanes make my head hurt, and when I see them in Magazines etc my brain usually shuts down and I go all glazed donut and have to be rescued by the dog, or wife telling me to she 'has plans' I don't recall why or who told me this, but through the mists of time all I remember being told is that there was a Polish Squadron stationed there, they flew Spitfires and the Squadron code was RF. (btw, I've never built a Spitfire, don't really like them and don't really want to start now) Anyhoo... I was reading up on some History of the area and I came across a bit on RAF Bramcote and it seems that around the early 1940's that it was actually Wellingtons that flew from there. (yay!!! not a Spitfire ) So I have had the (startling to some) idea that I would like to build one of the new Airfix Wellingtons as an Aircraft from RAF Bramcote in 1940. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out what the actual squadron codes were that they used at the time and also where I could poss get decals for it? I really do apologize to those of you let down by me actually wanting to build a Hairyplane, but normal service will resume shortly when I start posting more of my usual inane boring crap
