  1. It seems like I've been waiting for ages for some of these new arrivals (actually I have but that's another story). Anyhow we are now packed to the gunnels with new arrivals from Suyata, GWH, AMK, IBG, Das Werk, accessories from ResKit and some Mr Hobby essentials. There are still more long awaited kits to arrive but there is plenty to be getting on with so pop over to the "New Arrivals" section at www.blackmikemodels.co.uk to see everything that has just arrived. Linky thing here: https://www.blackmikemodels.co.uk/collections/new-arrivals Duncan B
  2. It's Black Friday here @ MJW Models! To be honest every day is Black Friday as our website homepage is always full of offers! At the moment, there's loads of kits in different scales and acrylic paint sets with 20 to almost 50% off UK RRP! Check them out now - https://mjwmodels.co.uk/ thanks Mike

    IAI kfir

Hi All Lockdown build no.5! this is AMK's lovely Kfir, which James reviewed back in 2017 , and it is a lovely kit, the only add on was some seatbelts by Eduard, I had to do a Israeli scheme Painted with Gunze Acrylics there is some residue from Liquid mask on the Canopy that i will remove tomorrow but it is a fun build i can wholeheartedly recommend.
  4. Parked the Takom Grant to avoid it suffering from an extreme reaction...... Started the AMK F-14D Tomcat, which so far is really nice once you find the sprue within the mass of plastic. Work starts with the Ejector Seats, which are among the nicest kit seats i have seen. I have added the Eduard Zoom steel belts, as the kit hasn't got any. Peter
  5. 1/48 IAI Kfir C2/C7 AvantGarde Model Kits (AMK) Catalogue # 88001-A The Israel Aircraft Industries Kfir (Hebrew: כְּפִיר, "Lion Cub") is an Israeli-built all-weather, multirole combat aircraft based on a modified French Dassault Mirage 5 airframe, with Israeli avionics and an Israeli-built version of the General Electric J79 turbojet engine. The project that would ultimately give birth to the Kfir can be traced back to Israel's need for adapting the Dassault Mirage IIIC to the specific requirements of the Israeli Air Force. he Kfir programme originated in the quest t
  6. As part of the expansion of brands being carried by BlackMike Models we are pleased to announce that the Zoukei-Mura F-4J Phantom II will be the first from ZM's Silver Wings series to be arriving in stock soon. More from ZM to follow. We will also be stocking AMK and many other exciting brands in the near future (orders have already been placed) so watch this space for more news. Duncan B
  7. 1:48 MiG-31B/BS Foxhound AvantGarde Model Kits Catalogue # 88008 Available from Hannants for £45.99 The aircraft that looks similar to the machine it was designed to replace, the MiG-25, was actually more than a simple rework with lengthening and a second cockpit. In fact, the MiG-31 was a whole new supersonic interceptor, designed to overcome of the shortcomings of its predecessor. Not only had issues with manoeuvrability been overcome, but the type was capable of a higher Mach speed without rick of engine failure. The type also utilises multi
  8. Hi all, A little game really, hope you don’t mind. This is our next news in our exciting and punishing release schedule. What could it be? Already in research and under way with the respected owner(s) of the aircraft and our specialist researchers / experts (thanks you two - you know who you are). This one will be three possibly four versions. Fully detailed and fully weaponised. I cannot wait to spill the beans on this one.
  9. I have the Tempest still rolling, with an update soon, but I'll throw my hat into the ring with the AMK Fouga Magister, finished in Luftwaffe colours, and with some panels and stuff opened up. I'm still tempted to build the red machine, but one kit....two choices I'd like to nail.
  10. This is the start of review build of AMK's 1:48 Mig 31 B/BS Foxhound, the box review can be seen here This post covers the engines and intake assemblies. My first impressions on test fitting the parts are that AMK have, once again produced another beauty. The quality of the fit rivals, if not exceeds some kits from the 'big' manufacturers. Parts fit well requiring no trimming and only require removal of the sprue gate marks left after removing the parts from the main sprue trees. Some of the parts literally 'click' together. The first assembly that t
  11. Cheers all. Figured I'd get my first WIP up and running here. This is the AMK Mig-31. I will be building this one for Model Aircraft Magazine, so I'll only be showing snippets here and there. I reviewed this kit on my own blog if you'd like to check that out here: https://jimsmodels.com/amk-mig-31-bbs-foxhound-review/ I've just gotten a modest start last night. Got the intake and gear pieces, as well as the exhaust pieces cleaned up and primed. I must say the engineering here is impressive as everything goes together cleverly and cleanly. Not much of an update, I know,
  12. I thought it was about time I posted some pics of what I'm working on at moment. Its the AMK 1:48 Kfir. A lovely kit, which goes together very well, with no great problems to deal with. If the kit had one weakness I would say its the thickness of the decals. But with hot water and a hair dryer I got them the conform over some quite substantial detail. This is where I am at, at the moment. with all the upper surface decals added and lower planning to be done tonight. The cockpit was enhanced with the Eduard C7 interior set. The paint is all freehand using Mr. Paint, which really is good st
  13. 1:48 Fouga CM.170 Magister Avante Garde Models Catalogue # 88004 Available from HobbyEasy for $298HKD (around £25) There are a few subjects that I always hope will eventually be tackled in 1:32. Until that happens, I’m quite happy to see 1:48 incarnations. One such subject is the gorgeous Fouga Magister. When I was a kid, I built the 1:72 Heller kit, which I seem to remember was beautifully detailed. Mind you, that’s a view probably being seen through rose-tinted glasses now! Recently, Kinetic stepped up to the plate and released a dual 1:48 Magis
