  1. Hello all, The T-55AD1 is a modification of the venerable T-55A which fitted it with the 'Drozd' (thrush) Active Protection System. The Drozd APS consists of 4 rocket launcher units, each with 2 rockets covering a total of 80 degrees in the front of the tank. The system detects incoming rockets/RPGs and fires a 107mm projectile that destroys the incoming projectile. The system was used in Afghanistan with 80% success against RPGs but was shelved due to the high collateral damage to troops in the area.
