  1. I just bought a dream subject I've wanted for a longtime and until 10 minutes ago, had no idea there even was a kit for it. I bought the brand new Alpha Model 1/24 Mclaren P-1 GTR! I'm currently building their Ferrari 812 Superfast and am in the painting stage again (don't ask) and have really enjoyed the kit. I've been after a P1 for a really long time but couldn't find anything that wasn't a toy, so I thought I'd have a look at Alpha Models' website to see if it was a future release and low and behold - there was a P1 and even better - it is a GTR!!! I let my excitement get the bet
  2. I'll be boring and add my Star wars wish list of a decent sized SSD, MC-80, Home1 and any other capital ship that's not another SD or X-Wing A 1/48 B-2 would be nice 1/200 CV-65 Enterprise wouldn't go amiss either Oh, and a 1/1000 Event Horizon
  3. I had to have 17 internal stitches and 19 external stitches on my left hand in 1998 after my blade slipped through the vinyl of a Halcyon Terminator kit and went straight into my hand. Blood everywhere. It started out as just a blade sized hole but I couldn't feel my little pinky a couple of weeks later. Went to UCLA hospital in London and had to have all the nerves repaired. I reckon I had a trainee surgeon doing it coz I had a massive scar after.
  4. Anyways, that's it for now, but I will update again once the other side is finished Thanks for looking in Si
  5. Hi everyone Time for an update. I have pretty much finished detailing the sidewalls on the starboard side and now just need to do the port side. Once the all of the detailing is done, I'll drill out the windows and then paint them ready for fiber installation. I am very happy with how its all come out! https://flic.kr/p/2kZWutf
  6. I hear you. I'm guilty of starting kits and not finishing them. I have a few threads that never saw the gallery. Its taken a lot of will power to keep building my SD and I've taken a few breaks to retain my modelling interest. Just take a couple of months off. Watch some movies and soon enough a subject will come up that rekindles that spark. That's when you capitalise on it and just build that 1 kit. Nothing else. Putting the other projects out of sight also helps concentration. You don't think about what you don't see. I hope you find your mojo again!
  7. I won't tell you how much the Korbanth SSD was then. You might faint it makes the Bandai kit seem like a bargin. I've never spent as much money on a kit as I did that one and likely never will. Well, that is if I don't cave in and buy the 1/200 Scharnhorst.....
  8. *cough*BandaiPG...... Take one for the team mate We'll be behind you all the way
  9. I had the top on briefly tonight whilst I was marking out where the next load of floodlights were going to go and I added the roof etc just to see how its looking. I am really happy with how it's looking! (just do what I do and look past the current gaps ) I thought it's looking pretty frickin' cool myself. I just took those 3 pics just then as I thought it looked good enough to share. Never mind the extraordinary orange wall behind. I try to forget it myself thanks again Si
  10. Hi everyone Thought I would update this while I have some spare time. Work continues on the sidewalls with only one wall left on the starboard side and only 2.5 left to do on the other I am pretty happy with how its coming along. I haven't quite finished the one above but I'm pretty much there I'll post another update when I have finished the whole side thanks as always for looking Si
  11. I'm a bit late to the party as I haven't been in this section of the forum in a long time but glad I did as this is fantastic! I really like this. Some figures would go well with this to really bring it to life - but that's just my opinion. Great build of a great ship
  12. Does he do one of those as well or do you mean Randy Johnson (Korbanth)
  13. LOL, give in to the temptation of what ever it is you're resisting! You know you want to
  14. thanks guys So, I finally got round to finishing off the spot lights up front and thought I'd do a dry fit /light test, and thought I would share my happy results Yes, I probably should have gone with cool white, but I prefer the look of the warmer white. Well, that's it but feel free to share your thoughts - good or bad. As always, thanks for looking Si
  15. Thanks guys Darren, you should definitely buy one! You don't have to go to the excessive detailing levels I'm doing to make it into a nice kit. I've seen a few OOB builds that have just lighting and a great paint job that I would happily have on my shelf.
  16. hey everyone Dusting this one off to show that I have actually started back on this yet again. Have begun the fun task of detailing the side walls, starting off with the front. This is pretty much where I left off in the last update but I am now more advanced along. Although it may not look it, a heap of small details have been added to the lips of the 2 hull halves. Whilst they don't look like much on their own, when you add the rest of it together, it fills the spaces nicely. I'm almost done for the front with only the right side front panel left to do which won't take long. Then
  17. thanks everyone! It was a nice break from the usual. There were a couple of spots I see I missed with the weathering but I have taken care of that since
  18. Hey everyone I have been taking a break from the Star Destroyer to built the all new Cordoba kit from Hasegawa. For those who have no idea what this ship is from, it's from an old anime series called Crusher Joe. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusher_Joe Its a really nice kit and is the second kit of this ship made in styrene. The first, smaller kit was released by Takara which I happened to build way back in 2012 or there about. There was also a larger resin kit made by Soy-ya which is hideously and prohibitively expensive if you're lucky enough to find one The Hasegawa ki
  19. Oh whoops, I see, my bad. I obviously missed that bit in the WIP
  20. That came out differently to what I was expecting. I thought you were going to put on a camo scheme? Regardless, it still looks awesome! I really like the engines. They look very cool
  21. That takes me back to when I grew up in New Zealand and they used to fly over our house on the way back to Wigram AF base in Christchurch. Great memories and a great build. Nothing wrong with your aircraft building skills.
  22. I think you'll find that potatoe's nose is 2 degrees out therefore rendering it un-cookable. Maybe there are some aftermarket parts though to help make it more potatoe-like? Cool subject Darren and an even better scheme. Will be checking in on this
